November 8, 2000: Hide/Seek/NYC officially announced by SiteSherpa. The game will launch Wednesday, November 29 and run 17 days until December 15. Three fugitives will leave their lives for that time to compete against each other and evade capture by the entire population of New York City. If they outmaneuver the public and the other fugitives, they stand to win a grand prize of $10,000. But members of the public claim cash prizes for apprehending the fugitives, culminating in a $10,000 grand prize for getting the last fugitive off the streets.

October 23, 2000: Casting interviews begin narrowing the applicant field for the fugitive roles. Applicants have already completed a detailed questionnaire. Interviews with selected applicants seek to determine whether they hold the "fugitive quality" -- a mix of craftiness, personality and street smarts -- necessary to compete successfully and potentially win the game.
