Hi. I'm Link the bounty Hunter (in this case). I could have easily been a candidate to become one of the hunted but I'd much rather hunt. If I know these streets The way ONLY I know these streets, this game might be shorter than you think....

As soon as I heard about this fugitive search, I became excited. I have always wanted to be in a detective role of some sort
since i was a young boy playing NAM (vietnam) in the woods of our local school grounds at night.
Of course it was a safe game of NAM, as I was only 12 years old. The object was to split into 2 teams and capture the enemy team by finding their hideout and taging the individual player.
I am anxiously seeking some excitement in capturing the fugitives.
Thanks,

GAME OVERVIEW & VIEWER FAQ
Q: What is Hide/Seek/NYC?
A: Hide/Seek/NYC is a reality-based game set in New York City that pits three fugitives against each other and against the general public. Fugitives strive to complete tasks and evade capture, while viewers seek to track them down by following the action on this website and taking to the streets to apprehend them.
Q: Who are the Fugitives?
A: The Fugitives Jason, Zoe, and Chris are three ordinary New Yorkers who have left their everyday lives behind to spend 17 days in pursuit of $10,000. To win it, they'll have to outwit each other and the viewing public.
Q: What are the Fugitives going to do every day?
A: Each day the Fugitives strive to complete tasks that are assigned via clues given by Hide/Seek/NYC Command. Tasks will be based in distinct Manhattan neighborhoods. Fugitives will also have to stay one step ahead of viewers, who will be trying to determine their coordinates and track them down.
Q: Can the Fugitives just go home, or go hide somewhere?
A: Fugitives are forbidden from leaving the island of Manhattan for the duration of the game. They're also barred from returning home and from any contact with friends or family. Every day, they have to complete a series of tasks that require them to be out and about in Manhattan, ensuring that they can't just find a place to hide and stay there for 17 days.
Q: How will viewers know what tasks the Fugitives are doing on a given day?
A: Hide/Seek Command will release clues about the Fugitives' tasks, and eventually the tasks themselves, at the main Command Center page of this website each day. Internet viewers who solve the clues can hit the streets to find the Fugitives. If you cant figure out the clue, dont despair. Well release the actual task later in the day and you may still be able to find a lingering Fugitive.
Q: Who can catch a Fugitive?
A: Anyone who has access to a web connection, or lives in New York City, or both, provided you meet the eligibility requirements.
Q: Whats in it for me?
A: Cash prizes as grand as $10,000. The first fugitive captured carries a bounty of $500; the second, $1000; and the third, $10,000. There will also be prizes along the way for viewers who interact with Hide/Seek Command and the webHunter (more on the webHunter in a minute).
Q: How do I catch a Fugitive in person?
A: By following the game on this website and tracking a Fugitive down on the streets of the city. Once youve tracked them down, youve got two ways to complete the capture.
(1) Get within 5 feet of the Fugitive and say, "We finally meet, you slippery Fugitive. Give me your Fugitive ID," or something to that effect. They hand it over because those are the rules and they're obligated to play by them. Once youve got the ID, call the Command Center main number listed on the ID and report the capture. Then stay within a one-block radius and wait for Command to arrive to document the capture and the real fun to begin. Calls to the Command main number will be accepted 24 hours a day.
(2) Get within 5 feet of the Fugitive and snap a clear photo of the Fugitive. Then call the Command Center photo capture line at 212.563.4037. Stay on the line and wait for the fun to begin. Calls to the Command Center photo capture line will be accepted from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Q: Can I catch more than one Fugitive?
A: By all means, if you're that skillful.
Q: How can I play if I dont live in New York City?
A: You can play online by following the action and submitting tips to the daily webHunter. If you submit a tip that leads the webHunter to capture the Fugitive, you split the prize with the webHunter.
Q: Whats a webHunter?
A: The webHunter is a person selected by Command to spend the day receiving email tips from web viewers and using those tips to join the New York City viewers in pursuit of the Fugitives.
Q: Whos behind this game?
A: SiteSherpa, a web navigation concern in New York City and the makers of SiteSherpa, the soon-to-be-available web travel companion.
Q: How can I find out more?
A: You can read the Official Rules. If you're still baffled, email command@hideseeknyc.com.

HIDE/SEEK/NYC SITE FAQ
Q: How often is this site updated?
A: Every time theres action, we will update this site. There's going to be a lot of action.
Q: When will clues about the Fugitives' tasks appear on the site?
A: Fugitives will receive clues as to their day tasks (the task that must be completed during daylight hours) first thing in the morning. After a short delay, Command will release the first day task clue in the Command Center on the site. Other clues may follow until the task itself is released in the Command Center, usually in the early afternoon.
Fugitives will receive their evening tasks after sunset. After a short delay, Command will release the evening task clue in the Command Center on the site.
Q: When do Fugitives report to Command?
A: As long as all three Fugitives remain uncaptured, they must place check-in calls to Command every 90 minutes (except between the hours of 11:00 PM and 9:00 AM on Sun.-Thurs. and 1:00 AM and 9:00 AM on Fri.-Sat.). Once a Fugitive is apprehended, remaining Fugitive(s) must report their locations every 60 minutes. During check-in calls, Fugitives must be outside and must report their exact location in Manhattan.
Q: How can you be sure Fugitives are where they say they are?
A: Command quizzes Fugitives about the particulars of their reported location during call-ins. Quizzes draw on the numerous databases of information about New York City that Command has at its disposal, and game operatives working on the streets. If Fugitives fail a fact-based quiz, they will be penalized.
Q: When else must Fugitives report to Command?
A: Fugitives must call to report when they are entering or exiting a subway station. Subway line information will be posted onsite after delay, but the exact station location will not.
Q: What is the delay between when Fugitives report in to Command and the instant their whereabouts are revealed on the site?
A: The delay is one minute for every day that is left in the game. So, on day 1, there will be a 17-minute delay. On day, 5, there will be a 13-minute delay. And so on.
Q: When do I get to see what the Fugitives look like?
A: The back of the Fugitives' heads should be staring at you from the top of this page. On day 2 (11.30.00), the heads will rotate 45 degrees. On day 3, (12.01.00), they'll rotate another 45 degrees. By day 5 (12.03.00), youll get the full-frontal view.
Q: Can I get information about the game on my mobile phone or pager?
A: Yes, go to upoc.com and join the HideSeekNYCnews and HideSeekNYCchat groups (it's all free). The chat group will feature exclusive reports from the Fugitives themselves. |
