CHRIS GETS BUSTED
WebHunter Roger Ziegler Nabs Fugitive Outside Tweed Courthouse
[At approximately 12:00 PM, Fugitive Chris approached a construction foreman sitting at a card table in front of Tweed Courthouse to ask him if he was a city official. It was Chriss second encounter with the man, a big and burly fellow. Earlier in the day, at about 10:00 AM, when Chris was still unclear about the exact details of the Task, he had queried the man about the location of City Hall.
In the hours in between, the foreman met both Fugitive Jason and webHunter Roger Ziegler, in that order. Jason was trying to nail down the pieces of the Clue and Ziegler wanted to know if he had been approached by anyone carrying a fish, asking questions. The foreman said he had been, twice. Ziegler asked the foreman if hed point them out next time he saw them. He said he would, and Ziegler decided to hang around at the card table.
When Chris returned to the foreman and the card table at 12:00 PM, Ziegler was there with him. The foreman tipped Ziegler off, and the catch was made. Command talked to Chris right after his life on the lam came to a close.]
So, how are you feeling?
You know how they say that when criminals finally get caught, they say theyre relieved to be off the streets? Thats how I feel right now.
What happened when he caught you? How did it go down?
[The webHunter] was nice. He said "Can I see your ID?" So I handed it over. He was really apologetic about it, but I didnt feel that bad. I expected to get caught. Its better to happen now than on Day 14.
Did you really expect to get caught?
I guess I didnt necessarily expect to get caught, but I knew that it would be better to get caught now than later.
Ever consider leaving the neighborhood this morning and coming back when the second Clue was posted?
Well, I knew I was close. But that was my downfall just pacing around the neighborhood.
Did the game get harder as it went on?
The Tasks were at more specific locations. It was really nerve-wracking to go into those places.
There seemed to be a few places that you liked to go to hide.
Theres a ton of little restaurants/bars that are kind of shady and let rummies drink all night.
You felt safe there?
If I sat at the bar with a hat over my eyes and talked football, no one was going to approach me.
Did you change your appearance much from day to day?
I grew a little facial hair and parted my hair to the right side one day. But I have a pretty generic look about me.
What did you tell people when you met them?
If I went into a bar to talk to people and they asked me what I did, Id say I was working on an Internet promotion and thats all they needed to know before they started talking about themselves.
The hunters seem to be getting more fervent in their pursuit? Did you notice?
Yeah, the Upoc crowd was mean. Thats what made it a team effort [for the Fugitives] that they decided to become such a gang. That forced Jason and Zoe and me to team up.
Are you going to miss the other Fugitives?
Im definitely not going to miss Jasons nightly snoring ritual, but, yeah, Im going to miss them.
Didnt anything bother you about them?
I dont think youre going to get any complaints from any of us about the others, except that Jason snores and Zoe takes too long in the shower.
She takes long showers?
No, not really. Yeah, sometimes.
What are they going to say about you?
Im sure theyre pissed that I left this early. Now theyve got to call in every hour and that makes the game two times as hard.
Who are Grandma and Fugitive Phil?
We nicknamed Jason, Grandma, because he snores and complains about his feet and he decided when TV time was over [at the Hide/Out]. Fugitive Phil was just an alter ego I created to throw off [the] Upoc [hunters].
Whos your money on, Jason or Zoe?
I cant tell you that. They both have their own styles. If Jasons chafing clears up, hes got a shot.
What are you going to do now?
Well, my girlfriends birthday is in three days, so Im glad Im going to get to be a part of that. Other than that, I need to find a job. So, anybody out there who wants to hire a hardworking, dedicated Fugitive, give me a call.
